About

The A Journey Through Dutch Art - Track BA delivered at the Utrecht Summer School takes you out of the classroom and into cities, museums and churches - you will not be able to get closer to the masterpieces themselves!

Overview

Within the A Journey Through Dutch Art - Track BA offered by Utrecht Summer School the first two weeks will cover the famous Dutch Golden Age, the early modern period, when the tiny Dutch Republic grew to an internationally flourishing metropole. Discover why the Dutch Golden Age was so unique, through its marvelous history, paintings, applied arts and architecture.

Key facts:

The last two weeks will take you through Dutch art from Van Gogh to Mondrian; from the 18th and 19th centuries and up to the early decades of modernism. Modern Dutch artists started to strive for the elusive ideal of truthfulness in their own way. Not only will you learn all about the famous artists of this period, but after completing this course you will also be able to recognize main art movements of these periods.
