About

This Summer, the AA Summer School offered by the Architectural Association will explore London not as a unified masterpiece, but as a layered continuum of habits, infrastructures, regulations, exceptions and everyday compromises.

Overview

Rejecting the myth of the sublime city and the cult of the isolated architectural object, the Architectural Association AA Summer School turns attention to what truly shapes urban space; from rivers and parks to Victorian geometries, from iconic architectural gestures to the relentless accumulation of the ordinary.

Features

Participants will critically observe and document multiple 'Londons', embracing the city as a site of contradictions rather than coherence.

Rather than endorsing the city as it is, this programme treats architectural education as a radical and inclusive practice — one that challenges disciplinary boundaries and engages deeply with the social, political and spatial realities of the contemporary city.
