The Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance workshop offered by the University of Cape Town is specifically designed to benefit Radiographers, Radiologists and Cardiologists working on, or interested in MRI, both in a clinical and research environment.

Overview

What you will study

The Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance workshop offered by th eUniversity of Cape Town will consist of a series of lectures, followed by practical sessions based on the theory. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with MRI where they can gain a deeper understanding on how to plan, execute and analyse Cardiac MRI scans.

Programme Structure

The program focuses on:

How to perform: 

  • CMR anatomy and function
  • flow in adult congenital heart disease
  • CMR LGE and viability assessment
  • CMR velocity encoded imaging 

CMR for:

  • myocarditis
  • infiltrative heart disease
  • ischemic heart disease 
  • systemic rheumatic disease
  • HIV-associated cardiovascular disease
  • CMR safety in permanent pacemakers and implantable- cardioverter defibrillators
