Overview
What you will study
Initially the coverage of the Fundamentals of Reservoir Fluid Properties and Phase Behavior course offered by University Teknologi PETRONAS will focus on thermodynamic properties and phase behavior of crude oil and natural gas. This is followed by reservoir fluids sampling, PVT laboratory experiments and PVT reports analysis and interpretation.
Practical and hands-on exercises will be given to help participants enhance their understanding of PVT experiments and reports. Coverage of advanced fluids characterization including equations of state and plus fraction characterization equips the participants with the knowledge to perform reservoir fluids modeling.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to relate PVT report with corresponding reservoir fluids behavior in order to ask the right questions and make informed decisions relating to petroleum reservoir fluids.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe reservoir fluids based on their PVT properties and characteristics
- Describe sampling programs to obtain representative reservoir fluids
- Describe standard PVT experiments performed (CCE, DLE, CVD and separator test) to obtain PVT data
- Use PVT experimental results to determine reservoir fluid properties
- Develop effective knowledge of fluids modeling based on equations of state
