Overview

The one-week intensive Summer School explores strategies and methods for effective museum communication, with a focus on the content, design, and technology of labels and educational panels. How do we balance depth of information with clarity? What does an object need to be fully understood and appreciated? When is a text effective, and how can longer historical or geographical narratives be constructed? What are the current design standards for educational materials in museums? How can emerging technologies enhance personalized experiences for diverse audiences and visit types?

The Summer School will be activated with at least 7 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 20 students.

The program will be entirely held online via Microsoft Teams.

Programme Structure

This Summer School aims to equip participants with essential knowledge on the creation and presentation of museum texts, alongside an overview of the latest research in museum communication and technologies.

Classes combine theoretical discussions with hands-on experiences, allowing participants to develop both a deeper understanding of the subject and practical skills.

Participants will engage with collections across diverse fields, including art history, science and technology, and the natural sciences.
