Overview
The Mental Health and the Mind course from UCL Summer School explores key categories of mental health conditions, multiple perspectives for understanding mental health and the mind and effective treatment approaches.
Mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety, are significant challenges worldwide, accounting for approximately 14% of the global burden of disease.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students will have:
- Listed the main symptoms and possible causes of several mental disorders.
- Recognised multiple perspectives in understanding mental health and mental disorders.
- Recognised the treatment options available and the philosophies of care associated with them.
- Engaged in research, presented findings and provided constructive feedback to peers.
