Overview
The Cancer - Science and Impact course from UCL Summer School fosters critical thinking, collaboration and a global perspective. You will gain a multidisciplinary understanding of cancer research and clinical care. Core topics include molecular mechanisms of cancer, diagnosis (pathology and radiology), radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and nanomedicine.
You will gain exposure to cutting-edge research and clinical practice at world-leading institutions.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students will have:
- Described the fundamental biological mechanisms underlying cancer development and progression.
- Applied key concepts in cancer diagnosis and therapy to interpret clinical implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics.
- Analysed the benefits and limitations of current cancer treatments, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
- Evaluated innovative cancer research approaches and technologies, such as nanomedicine and cancer genomics.
- Designed a collaborative solution to a real-world cancer challenge and presented their findings through a structured PBL project.

- IELTS (Academic) at least 7.0 overall and 6.5 in each component or equivalent
- STEM background such as medicine, biomedical science, physics, chemistry, biology, life or health sciences, maths, engineering, computer or data science or a related field
