Overview
The Summer School programme from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) explores the city of Athens from antiquity to the modern era, focusing on history, archaeology, culture, and urban life. Teaching takes place both in the classroom and on site at major archaeological and cultural landmarks, allowing participants to engage directly with the material and historical landscape of the city.
Key Facts
Throughout the programme, each participant selects a topic for an individual or team research project, developed in consultation with the instructors. Topics may range from the transformation of public space or the reinterpretation of monuments to questions of heritage preservation and urban identity. Participants work independently or collaboratively during the second and third weeks, integrating their research with the on-site learning experience. The programme culminates on 2 July with student presentations, where each project is shared and discussed in a collegial academic setting, followed by a closing reception celebrating the completion of the course.
